Minutes of MFIN Meetings

October 10th, 2019 – Roisin Hurst from Home Energy Scotland told us about the work they do to help clients save money on their home energy bills and Sue Peart gave an update on the mapping exercise undertaken at the April meeting. There then followed updates from those present and discussions on local matters. 

August 20th, 2019 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters Christopher Brown from JB Management told us about the work they do to help clients with training and modern apprenticeship and Lorraine Chapman from Midlothian Council gave us an update on Young Carers/Adult Carer Support plans and Midlothian Food Alliance.

June 5th, 2019 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters Heather Ferguson from the DWP and Lesley Smith from the Scottish Recovery Network (SRN) told us about the
work that they are doing to support Midlothian jobcentre clients who have mental health issues.

April 10th, 2019 – There were discussions on local matters including the contribution that the network can make to the Midlothian Strategic Plan, and Susan Affleck from Midlothian Sure Start gave us a presentation on their Positive Futures Project.

February 27th, 2019 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters we had a presentation from Annette Lang of Midlothian Council who told us about the work of the Services with Communities team which she leads and how the council is beginning to work differently with local communities.

January 15th, 2019 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters we had a presentation from Carol Tugman of Social Security Scotland who gave us an overview of the organisation and described the devolved benefits that have already been introduced. Carol has kindly made her presentation available.

November 26th, 2018 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters we had a presentation from Karen Davidson of Growing Together Midlothian giving an update on the Post-Brexit Food Project funded by the Scottish Government’s Brexit Stakeholder Fund.

October 16th, 2018 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters we had presentations from Tammy Reilly on Rock Trust’s Rent Deposit Scheme and Chris Clyne from Changeworks on their Energy and Food Waste projects. Tammy has kindly made available Information and an Application Form for the Rent Deposit Scheme and Chris has kindly made his presentation available.

September 3rd, 2018 – With presentations from Smart Works Edinburgh, Midlothian Council, Growing Together Midlothian and Volunteer Midlothian.

June 26th, 2018 – As well as the usual discussions on local matters we had presentations from David Walker on VOCAL’s Wee Break Midlothian service for carers and Tracy Connerton from Momentum on their new service for Fair Start Scotland to help local job seekers move into sustainable employment. Lynn Bertram from RBS also gave us an overview of her role as Midlothian’s community banker. David And Tracy have kindly made their presentations available to view Wee Breaks Presentation, Fair Start Presentation.

February 20th, 2018 – Updates from The Button Box and the Midlothian Food & Health Alliance.

November 28th, 2017 – With a presentation by Miriam Leighton of MVA on the Aspiring Communities project. Also, updates and discussion on the Midlothian Council proposed budget cuts.

October 10th, 2017 – Discussing the Midlothian Council proposed budget cuts.

April 12th, 2017 – With presentations by Changeworks, Castle Community Bank and The Improvement Service.

February 22nd, 2017 – With a presentation and discussion on Midlothian Council’s Review of Advice Services and an update on Universal Credit Full Service roll-out.
